INDIANAPOLIS - An off-duty Metro Police officer was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
IMPD says Officer Kyle Fleck, who joined the department in February 2010, hit a car parked at the Fashion Mall at Keystone Crossing at around 7:30 pm Thursday. Witnesses told other officers that they saw the marked police car hit the parked car. The officer then parked his car in front of the mall and went inside to find the owner of the car.
Officers arriving on the scene requested a supervisor, who smelled alcohol on the officer in question.
IMPD says the supervisor contacted the appropriate departmental personnel to conduct a DUI investigation and, also an administrative investigation.
Police say Fleck's certified breath test showed the officer had a blood alcohol content of .07. He was arrested for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (A misdemeanor). He has been transported to the Arrestee Processing Center for booking.
Officer Fleck is on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation. He was not on duty at the time of the accident.
His booking photo will be released when it is available and added to this story.
