Man who shot boy as he fished was drinking

Updated:

BLUFFTON (AP) - Court documents say a man charged in connection with the shooting of a 4-year northeastern Indiana boy fishing with his father has been drinking and was bothered by the light on a pier, taking aim at it with a rifle scope and uttering, "That will teach them" after pulling the trigger.

The documents filed in Wells Circuit Court in Bluffton say that shot fired by 46-year-old Bruce Pond of Ossian struck Jacob Michuda of Bluffton in the right temple as he fished with his father and others late Friday.

The Journal Gazette and The News-Sentinel quoted the documents Wednesday as saying Pond told police he was so upset by the shooting he vomited.

He's being held in jail without bond. A message seeking comment was left with his attorney.
