INDIANAPOLIS – The City of Indianapolis in partnership with the Marion County Public Health Department and the Indianapolis Division of Homeland Security today announced the activation of the Extreme Temperature Contingency Plan. Below are the locations and hours of operations for community centers designated as cooling sites as well as a list of Indy Parks spray grounds. Additionally, attached find a document listing the locations and hours for Indy Parks facilities serving as cooling centers.

In response to the forecast of excessive heat warnings through the weekend, The Salvation Army will open 2 Cooling Centers in Indianapolis. The Salvation Army is working with Indianapolis EOC to meet the needs of those seeking shelter from the heat.
The Cooling Center locations are as follows: On the Northwest side, The Salvation Army's Eagle Creek Corps Community Center at 4400 North High School Road; on the Southside, The Salvation Army's Fountain Square Corps Community Center at 1337 Shelby Street. The centers will be open from 8AM - 8PM through Saturday.
Each Cooling Center will offer air conditioning, hydration, and light snacks. The Salvation Army is committed to serving those in need in our community and will continue to stand ready to assist when special circumstances, such as this current heat emergency, arise.

Beech Grove
Beech Grove Mayor Terry Dilk ordered the city's emergency cooling center to remain open through 8pm Sunday, July 24. The Elton H. Geshwiler Senior Citizens Center (602 Main Street) will be open to the public from 8am to 8pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
With the heat index above 100 degrees, there is danger for senior citizens, small children, and people with breathing conditions.
Bottled water will be available at the center.
Residents are encouraged to share this information with neighbors, family, and friends, especially those without air conditioning.
