INDIANAPOLIS - Police are investigating the body of a woman found in Fall Creek Sunday evening.
Officers were dispatched to the creek around 7 p.m. Sunday after a witness told a 911 dispatcher they saw a body floating in the creek, lodged in some debris. Officers located the "badly decomposing" female body near the bank of the creek.
The body was found around 6500 E. Fall Creek Parkway North Drive on the northeast side. That location is near I-465 and E. 56th Street.
Investigators have yet to determine the identity, race or age of the woman. The coroner's office will confirm a cause of death after an autopsy Tuesday.
Homicide detectives and workers from the Marion County Coroner's Office were on the scene, beginning the preliminary investigation.
