INDIANAPOLIS, May 27—Results from the Nielsen Media Research May ratings sweeps show WTHR-TV (Channel 13) in firm control of all major weekday news time periods in central Indiana. Eyewitness News Sunrise from 5-6am scored a 2.5 household rating, a 19% advantage over second-place WXIN. WTHR is the only station to increase its share in this time period year-toyear.

Eyewitness News Sunrise also wins the 6-7am hour with a 4.5 rating….a 22% rating advantage over second-place WXIN's 3.7 rating.

Eyewitness News 5-6pm earns a 7.4 rating….90% higher than second-place WISH and beating WISH and WRTV newscasts combined by 9%. Despite the addition of a fourth newscast in this time period, WTHR actually grew its share of the audience by 6% over the past year while WISH and WRTV declined.

Another key victory is Eyewitness News at 6pm where WTHR's 9.3 rating nearly doubles second-place WISH's 4.7 and beats WISH and WRTV combined by 19%. WTHR has grown its share of viewing in the time period 27% since last May.

Eyewitness News Nightbeat at 11pm is #1 in late news in both the five-day and seven-day averages as viewers turn to WTHR.

"I'm proud of the accomplishments our team has made in all local news dayparts," says WTHR President and General Manager John Cardenas. "And I'm especially pleased with our success at 11pm. NBC has laid out an impressive plan for growing the primetime audience this fall which should help us widen the gap even further in late news."
