Fort Wayne - Members of a Fort Wayne family are celebrating what they say is the miraculous survival and flourishing of a baby girl born weighting a mere 1 pound, 4 ounces.
Fatima Dunifon was born at 24 weeks on Sept. 18, months ahead of her Jan. 8 due date. Seven months and more than $1 million in medical bills later, she's home with parents Sofia and Martin Dunifon.
Fatima's survival changes were poor when she arrived in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Lutheran Hospital. Against the odds, the hospital sent the apparently healthy girl home Dec. 19.
Now, Fatima is up to now 21 inches and 11 pounds and has earned the nickname "Fat-Fat" from her mother.
