Pacers playoff buzz

Updated:

Indianapolis - The last minute loss in the first round of the NBA play-offs was heartbreaking to Pacers fans but they're hopeful about Monday night's match-up.

Community support is growing for the Pacers and is adding up to an extra boost in business.

Pacers pride is gaining momentum.

First, a pep rally, "It's very emotional to see it come back to what it is," said Jim Morris on Friday.

Then a viewing party at BW3's on Saturday.

And because that first play-off game was so close Fanfare Tickets now reports a steady increase in sales for both Thursday and Saturday's games at Conseco Fieldhouse buyers scoring seats at prices ranging from just ten to 100 dollars.

Not only are Pacer fans excited, but so are restaurant and bar owners, jumping at the chance to make more money on a Monday night.

Alan Ignace told Eyewitness News on Sunday, "For a bar like this, it's huge. We plan for staffing, staff members, around games."

Places all over town hope to cash in on what's usually a slow night of the week.

Kilroys changed it's profile picture on Facebook to the Pacers logo.

And signs and Jerseys at the Front Page Bar and Grill make it clear: fans are welcome to watch the game.

"Even if it's just one round in the play-offs, we'll take it. Thank you. Thank you Pacers," said Ignace.

But the hope is that young players and new coaches mean the start of a whole new era.

"There's a lot of buzz about it. With the age and experience of the team, it's exciting."

Hoping as the excitement builds, so does the business for seasons to come.

The next planned event to support the Pacers in the play-offs is a rally this Tuesday from 4-6pm. It will take place at the Kroger at 86th and Township in Indianapolis.
