Chicago - Notre Dame coach Mike Brey was asked to compare Akron, his NCAA first-round opponent, to another team he's seen this year. He gave an easy answer.
Brey says the Zips look a lot like Brey's very own Irish.
They have veteran players, including five who have appeared in 100-plus games. They also rely heavily on 3-pointers and can also pitch it inside and score from there.
Second-seeded Notre Dame will be playing its first game since a disheartening loss last week to Louisville in the Big East tournament semifinals. The Irish and Akron play Friday in Chicago.
