Note: This story has been corrected from an earlier version. Laidaura Carroll remains in critical condition and her child is in stable condition, according to police.
Indianapolis - A man was killed and an infant was thrown from a vehicle in a crash on the northwest side Friday night.
The child, who is in stable condition according to police, was ejected from a car by the collision around 6 p.m. Friday in the 7500 block of Zionsville Road. Police say a southbound vehicle lost control on the road and was struck in the side by another vehicle that was traveling northbound.
The female driver of the car, 22-year-old Laidaura Carroll of Indianapolis, was entrapped for a short time and was also transported to St. Vincent Hospital in critical condition.
Her brother, 26-year-old Everett Carroll, who was a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle, was killed in the crash.
"At this point in time, we know that the roads don't appear to be slick, maybe a little wet, but we're still trying to determine the cause of the crash," said IMPD Patrolman Brian Finley.
The driver of the Toyota, 22-year-old Tyler Oren of Indianapolis, was treated and released from Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Finley says alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation. Investigators were not able to determine if the child was properly restrained, due to the extensive damage to the Buick.
