Indianapolis - The mother of a boy critically hurt in a bicycle accident has been located.

Metro police say the 12-year-old boy apparently rode his bicycle off the loading dock and struck his head at the Kmart at 2715 Madison Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The child is in critical condition at Methodist Hospital and his mother is en route to the hospital. Police say she saw media reports of the accident after searching for her son for several hours and contacted police.

Emergency crews arrived to find the boy lying on the concrete behind the Kmart, "4-5 feet down off of a loading dock ditch area." A witness told police he was at his apartment beside the business, saw the boy ride his bicycle off the loading dock and flip over into the ditch and called 911.

Police say the juvenile was alone and neither officers nor EMS personnel could identify him. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition with head and face injuries.

Police do not believe the mother will face any charges.
