Indianapolis - A northeastern Indiana farm in the same family for nearly 200 years is among 33 that will receive Hoosier Homestead Awards on Friday at the Statehouse.
The Kozlowski family of Adams County, south of Fort Wayne, has kept their farm since 1820. In southern Indiana's Orange County, the Coulter family has maintained their farm since 1824.
Those families and nine others will receive sesquicentennial awards for maintaining farms for at least 150 years. Twenty-two others from around Indiana will receive centennial awards for keeping their farm for at least 100 years.
Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman and Indiana Agriculture Director Joe Kelsay will present the awards at a Statehouse ceremony Friday afternoon.
Indiana created the award to recognize the family farms' contributions to Indiana's economic, cultural and social progress.
