Martin University looks for new president

Updated:

Indianapolis - Martin University's board is searching for a new president.

In the interim, the board chose Charlotte Westerhaus to take the spot of Algeania Freeman, who stepped down. Freeman fired more than two-dozen faculty members, administrators, and staff members during her three-year tenure at the school.

The university's founder says the school needs to turn the page.

"There were things that did kind of get to me. I must confess to you and the almighty God that it did get difficult at times. But as a person of faith we have to pick up our cross and keep going. Because I had no power, no authority, the trustees were in charge but I think they've done well now," said Fr. Boniface Hardin, Martin University.

Interim President Westerhaus was Vice-President of Diversity and Inclusion at the NCAA.
