Indianapolis - If you avoided the crowds on Black Friday, there's another chance to cash in on some holiday deals.

Cyber Monday is growing in popularity, as retailers pull out the stops the weekend after Thanksgiving, in hopes of getting consumers in the mood to shop.

"Most stores will have exclusive steals just for Cyber Monday," said Beth Armstrong of ingoodcents.com.

The National Retail Federation reports that 9 out of 10 retailers will offer some kind of special on the Monday after Thanksgiving. But experts suggest that while big box stores offer Black Friday bargains, the smaller name brand stores save their savings for Cyber Monday.

"High end, like Kate Spade, will also have good deals," said Armstrong.

Don't forget free shipping, too. But it pays to do your homework.

Stores like Walmart are already promoting "Cyber Week" deals online and at Target, you can sign up for cyber specials, which Armstrong says is a good idea.

"I highly recommend signing up for newsletters of your favorite stores, because they'll send coupon codes, along with discounted prices and free shipping," she said.

Mattel has that offer for the high-demand Rapunzel doll. A coupon code takes $3 off the $14.99 price and with free shipping it's a $10 savings - all from the comfort of home.

But while the deals are certainly tempting, you want to make sure you protect yourself while you're surfing the web. Experts say to look for "https:" in the address bar of your browser at checkout.

Analysts expect an increase in Cyber Monday shoppers this year. They say most of them will shop from work.
