Anchorage, Alaska - Travis Thompson scored 13 points and Alaska-Anchorage defeated Ball State 62-44 on Saturday for fourth place in the Carrs-Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.
Ball State (3-3) was plagued by poor shooting the entire game, shooting 29 percent from the field.
The Division II Seawolves (3-3) played nearly error-free ball the first half, recording just one turnover. Casey Robinson's eight points, including two 3-pointers, helped Alaska-Anchorage open a 10-point lead. The Cardinals closed the gap when Jauwan Scaife's underhanded scoop from near the top of the key was called a shot as he was fouled just before halftime. He made all three free throws to close the gap to 28-21.
The Seawolves scored the first seven points of the second half and Ball State never got closer than six after that.
Brandon Walker finished with 12 points for Alaska-Anchorage and Robinson added 10. Jarrod Jones led Ball State with 11 points.
