The online retailer is hiring more than 2,500 workers to staff it's Whitestown and Plainfield warehouses for the holidays.
The jobs pay as much as $12.50 an hour, but many of them are not for the faint hearted.
They involve picking up, sorting, packing and shipping items from the retailer's huge warehouses.
It is physical and sometimes involves heavy lifting, but despite the demands it appears there is no shortage of people eager to do it.
The news comes at a time when many Hoosiers are still getting hammered by the recession. One in ten Indiana workers are out of work.
Eyewitness News talked to numerous people who are hoping to land temporary jobs with Amazon.
Many say they are college graduates, others have a lot of work experience but can't find work.
"My high hope right now is that I get a better chance of employment especially to pay the rent, the bills. Man I mean it's chaos out here," said Glen Davis, unemployed warehouse worker. "I am living with my mother in law and wife right now. I am struggling, I am struggling hard."
"It is pretty hard. It is pretty hard. Bills are not getting paid, it is pretty hard, said Natalie Smith, unemployed college graduate. " I have a college degree in multi-media art and so I am really trying to get out here and do something with my life, something constructive I don't want to be sitting home broke."
"Some hope, hope. Hope if you turn around mind your p's and q's do what you are told there is a good chance of getting hired on," said Scott Sharp, unemployed mechanic.
