Avon wins third straight marching band title

Indianapolis - Avon High School was named the best marching band in the country for the third straight year.

The school won the Bands of America Grand Nationals Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Marching Black & Gold also were named Class AAAA champions, in addition to several other awards at the competition.

They are just the second band in the competition's history to win three straight titles. With their victory, Avon will also be invited to attend the 2012 Rose Parade.

Carmel H.S. finished fifth, Lawrence Central was eighth and Center Grove finished 12th in the finals.
