Updated:

Richmond - A Richmond, Ind. native is donating $1 million to Earlham College to help build a small theater and boost the business program.

Ron McDaniel began his college career at Earlham in 1957 and later transferred to the University of Dayton, where he graduated in 1969. McDaniel is president of Western-Cullen-Hayes, Inc., a company that makes railroad signals and other products.

The latest $1 million donation to Earlham brings McDaniel's total gifts to the school to more than $2.5 million.

Earlham President Douglas Bennett says McDaniel is an "extraordinary businessman and arts lover" who understands the impact Earlham has on the Richmond community.
