Stadium food vendor claims improvements in hygiene

Updated:

Indianapolis - The company that runs the food stands in Lucas Oil Stadium told members of the CIB Tuesday it has taken aggressive steps to improve health and safety concerns in stadium kitchens.

13 Investigates found more than 1,400 food safety violations in stadium health inspection reports since the stadium opened.

The Centerplate general manager says since our November report, the company has doubled its own internal audit teams to inspect the 183 concession and kitchen areas.

"I have to say Marion County is one of the strictest health departments I have seen in my experience. We have worked with Barney, the CIB, we have a clean bill of health," said Doug Clements, Centerplate.

13 Investigates also reported that health inspectors found mouse droppings in storage rooms and kitchens. Clements says Centerplate hired two exterminators to do daily checks at the stadium to control the rodent problem.
