At the St.Vincent Diabetes Center, we help people with diabetes become experts in their own care by offering a wide range of diabetes education classes including: 

• Type 2 diabetes self-management training explaining immediate and long-term complications, monitoring blood sugar, diabetes medications, optimal eating, and the effects of activity on blood sugar.
• Gestational diabetes management for women who have diabetes during pregnancy. Learn about meal planning, monitoring blood sugar and ketones, and establishing exercise guidelines.
• Diabetes prevention instruction on glucose intolerance and how to manage it through meal planning, exercise and weight management, with the goal of preventing or delaying type 2 diabetes.
• Individual sessions arranged for adults and children with type 1 diabetes, women with polycystic ovarian syndrome, individuals with hypoglycemia unrelated to diabetes, and anyone who has special learning needs.

Our team of specialists at the St.Vincent Diabetes Center includes certified diabetes educators who can help you balance your diabetes care with your lifestyle needs. They will help you make educated choices, and get the most from the treatment options you select. In addition, our certified diabetes educators are available upon request to speak on diabetes-related issues at special events and community meetings.
