Linda Allen is WTHR's new Consumer/Investigative reporter. You can count on Linda to bring you the latest consumer news as it happens. Every Monday at 5:30 p.m. Linda brings you special reports that focus on costly scams and rip-offs, buying trends as well as good ole' money saving advice.
Linda has been in radio and television news for more than twenty years. She started her career right here in Indianapolis at WBDG Radio, the voice of the Ben Davis Giants. While attending Ben Davis High school, Linda also worked part-time for WIRE-WXTZ Radio. During her senior year, Linda received first place honors in Broadcasting in state high school competition. She was also a member of the "State Champion Girl's Swim Team."
After high school Linda headed south to the sunshine state to attend the University of Florida. She continued her career in radio while working her way through school. She moved into television news in 1985 in Huntsville, Alabama where she was a news anchor and reporter covering Military, Space and Science news for WAAY TV. During her time in Huntsville, Linda inverviewed national dignitaries including President George H. Bush, former and present astronauts as well as hollywood actors and entertainers. Her work in the "Rocket City" earned her several awards including "Reporter of the Year." She was honored twice nationally as an "Outstanding Young Woman of America." Her most prized personal work however, invovled two annual telethons she co-hosted; one for "Cerebral Palsy," the other for "Children's Hospital." Linda says "the children" changed her life.
Linda has also anchored and reported for WTVC in Chattanooga, Tennessee as well as WROC TV in Rochester, New York. Most recently, Linda was in Washington D.C. where she worked as an anchor and reporter for WJLA-Newschannel 8 TV.
Linda is glad to be "back home in Indiana" near her family and is excited to be part of her new family at WTHR.
