Evansville - The State Budget Committee is set to review how well IBM Corp. is doing with a plan to fix problems with Indiana's privatized welfare system.
The Evansville Courier & Press reported Thursday the Budget Committee on Sept. 25 will hear details on how well a corrective action plan is working. IBM delivered the plan to the Family and Social Services Administration last month.
State legislative leaders have appointed the budget panel to review the privately run welfare system. IBM and Affiliated Computer Services Inc. have a 10-year, $1.34 billion contract to take over intake for food stamps, Medicaid and other benefits.
FSSA officials took representatives of the two companies to Evansville this week to meet with critics of the privately run system.
