Indianapolis - Sticker shock lands an Indianapolis police officer in trouble. The officer had an "Impeach Obama" bumper sticker on his laptop inside his police car.

Through the glare of the window shield, it's not that hard to see the political message in black letters on a yellow background. It's supposed to attract attention, and it did.

In the front seat of all Indianapolis Metro Police cars are laptops, owned by the city and operated by the city and designed for police business. As a general rule the laptops are not supposed to be used for any other reason.

"My first impression was it represented the entire department," said Sarah Harrison, Indianapolis.

"You can't have something like that. Even though he has first amendment rights, it is a city owned vehicle and it is not going to be tolerated by the chief, by the major and he will face some disciplinary action," said Lt. Jeff Duhamell.

"That's why I took the pictures because I wanted to have proof and get it out there and see what we could do to get it changed," said Harrison.

Change is coming. The officer, identified as Patrolman James Quyle, has been ordered to remove the sticker from his laptop and he will, according to the department, be disciplined.

Indianapolis police as well as other city employees are told not to get involved in politics while representing the city. The first amendment has its place, but not while on the city clock.
