Double murder suspect arrested in California

Posted: Updated:

San Diego - A man wanted for double murder in Indianapolis was arrested Saturday in California.

Police had issued two warrants for Michael L. Brown after they said he killed two elderly men in their Decatur Township home last month. The San Diego Fugitive Task Force, coordinated by the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested Brown without incident around 2 p.m. Indianapolis time.

Metro Police suspect the 56-year-old Brown killed two elderly men who live near Rhonda Long.

"I have five kids inside so it makes us feel a lot better that there is someone they are going to hold accountable," she said.

On October 20th, police responded to a Middlebury Way home in Decatur Township. Inside officers found 70-year-old Milton Lindgren and 73-year-old Eric Kendricks beaten to death.

Brown reportedly told police he found the doors locked while doing a welfare check on the men, so he climbed in this back window and found them dead.

"My understanding is that at one point he was even staying there so it would not be unusual to see him coming and going from the house," said Lt. Duhamell.

Metro Police issued the arrest warrants Friday and requested the help of the U.S. Marshals in San Diego after receiving information that Brown had fled to San Diego. Task force officers learned that Brown was in the area of Scripps Hospital in San Diego and arrested him in the hospital's lobby a short time later.

Brown was booked into the San Diego County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Indianapolis.

"He needs to be held accountable for his actions," said Long.
