Indianapolis - Danica Patrick spoke to reporters Friday following an afternoon accident in which she hit another team's crew member.
Patrick hit Dale Coyne Racing crew member Charles Buckman while pulling into the pit during Fast Friday practice. ESPN video shows him attempting to get out of the way after realizing Patrick was pulling in. Although the camera did not catch all of the accident, Buckman can be seen in the lower left corner of the frame. He appears to get knocked over from the impact.
Buckman's injuries are not life-threatening.
"It's really unfortunate with what happened. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Hopefully he'll be able to get back to the track soon and get back to doing what he loves," she told reporters at 5:00 pm.
Buckman was evaluated at the Clarian Emergency Medical Center, where he is being treated for a concussion and scalp and facial lacerations. Buckman is alert and awake, according to Dr. Mike Olinger, senior medical director for the Indy Racing League.
Patrick, who is with Andretti Green Racing, was reportedly very upset following the accident and left the area.
Meantime, rookie driver Alex Lloyd is hospitalized with neck pains after hitting the wall hard during practice earlier in the afternoon.
The 23-year-old Englishman was examined at the track's infield hospital, then taken to Methodist Hospital for further tests to determine the cause of his neck pains.
Lloyd, the champion last season in the IRL's developmental Indy Lights Series, completed a lap at more than 223 mph and lost control of his Dallara in the first turn. He struck the outside wall with the rear of the car and continued into the second turn. His car was heavily damaged.
Mario Dominguez also crashed Friday. The 96 car hit the access wall between turns one and two while coming off pit row. There was damage to the nose and left front of the car.
Wednesday and Thursday were washouts, and the drivers were eager to get some practice time in before Pole Day qualifying on Saturday.
Scott Dixon wound up with the fastest time Friday at 226.968, with Marco Andretti not far behind at 226.710. Coming in third for the day was Tony Kanaan at 226.688, Ryan Briscoe at 226.143 and Hideki Mutoh at 225.990.

Sarah Fisher, who started her own team this season, made her first track appearance and was quickly up to more than 219.
IMS Public Relations Director Ron Green says while the main focus remains on racing, the IMS wants to offer fans of all ages a variety of activities. On Friday night there will be live music from Chevelle at 6:00 pm.
Rain moved in late in the afternoon, halting practice for the day. The forecast looks good for Saturday, but Sunday is a different story when a low pressure system moves in, bringing cold temperatures and the chance for more rain.
