Bloomington - While Kelvin Sampson continues to battle allegations of recruiting violations, Indiana University is cracking down on what fans are allowed to wear to games in relation to the controversy.
Some of the less flattering signs and T-shirts that dotted the Assembly Hall crowd Wednesday against Wisconsin were stopped at the door.
"They don't want anything bad getting out, they want everything to come through IU, before anyone makes decisions," said a fan at Saturday's game.
The new regulations didn't sit well with all fans.
"I think students should be able to say what they want," said student Grant Winkle. "They are what drives the games and university."
"I guess they want to be careful, because the university is under scrutiny now, and I guess they just don't want anything specific because they are in their own investigation," said another student.
Some students told Eyewitness News they made a sign for the game Saturday night, but knew better than to bring it to the game. Their message, they say, is contrary to the university's message.
"They may not want us to have criticism posted on national television," said student Dick LaGrange.
The university put the rules in effect this week, but are not commenting on the rules.
