NE Indiana post office could be named for soldier

Updated:

Rome City - The mother of a soldier killed in Iraq says she's honored the post office in his northeastern Indiana hometown could soon be named for him.

The U.S. House has approved naming the Rome City post office for Army Spc. Nicholas Hartge, who was 20 when he was killed in 2007 during combat near Baghdad.

Lori Abbott says move to recognize her son makes her very proud of him.

Hartge enlisted in the Army while still a student at East Noble High School and left for basic training a week after graduation.

Congressman Mark Souder says the naming would be a small gesture to recognize Hartge's sacrifice for his country.

The renaming proposal still needs Senate approval.
