Gary - A police chief says 17-year-old boy who is in custody might have been involved in the shooting at a northwestern Indiana skating rink where nine teenagers were wounded as they left a concert.
Gary Police Chief Gary Carter said Thursday that tips led investigator to the teen and they also believe they've found the gun that was fired outside World of Skates. The teen was being held without bond in the Lake County Jail on an unrelated felony gun charge.
The rink's owner estimated 800 teens attended the Friday night rap concert and that there were no troubles inside. The wounded youths ranging in age from 14 to 18 suffered various non-life threatening injuries.
Building inspectors have ordered the rink closed until a sprinkler system is installed.
