Indianapolis - Metro Police are investigating an accidental Crime Lab shooting at the Marion County Jail.

The shooting happened during ballistics testing of a firearm by a Crime Lab worker. A bullet ricocheted and struck 36-year-old Douglas Boxler in the head, grazing his forehead.

Boxler is a firearms technician. Police say he was test firing a black powder weapon when the projectile bounced back and grazed him in the head. Other Crime Lab employees rendered first aid while waiting for EMS to respond. He was transported to Methodist Hospital in good condition.

The injury was described as minor and he is expected to make a full recovery.
