Indianapolis - The driver who police say caused a crash on I-465 near Keystone Ave. Tuesday has been cited.
Police say Louis King Jr., 76, of Fishers, was driving eastbound approaching Keystone when he started to exit the highway. He then changed his mind and attempted to re-enter I-465 from the ramp.
As King started to merge, his car hit the concrete divider. He spun out of control, striking an SUV driven by James E. Brown of Georgetown, Kentucky. Both vehicles hit a 1998 Freightliner tractor-trailer being driven by Aleixandre Radis, 41, Crown Point, IN. The Freightliner was pushed into the concrete divider, causing the gas tank to erupt and the vehicle to catch fire.
King was transported to Community Hospital North for non-life threatening injuries. Brown and Radis were not injured in the crash.
King was cited for unsafe lane movement.

"What started the crash were the actions of the blue Lumina. The gentleman was in the exit lane and he apparently decided he wanted to be in the through lane and tried to move back," said 1st Sgt. Dave Bursten, Indiana State Police.
The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours.
Crews had to re-pave a large section of the interstate because of the intense heat from the fire and contamination from the spilled diesel fuel.
