Princeton - Indiana's budgetary troubles have halted plans for a $12 million road-widening project that had been set to start this year in a southwestern Indiana city.
State highway department spokeswoman Cher Goodwin says widening Broadway Street through the heart of the city of Princeton simply isn't an urgent priority given the state's fiscal woes.
The widening of the road that's also Indiana 64 had been set to start this year in the city about 30 miles north of Evansville under Gov. Mitch Daniels' "Major Moves" highway campaign.
But Goodwin says the project now may not begin for 10 or 12 years, although there are no definitive plans in place.
