
Indianapolis - We are a week away from one of the biggest shopping days of the year, Black Friday, but many stores are making changes to entice shoppers now.
The Midnight Shopper event along Mass Ave in downtown Indianapolis is Friday night. Retail stores will stay open until midnight - many with special deals. The are several popular gift shops, clothing, home decor, candy and toy stores along the street.
Big chains like Wal-Mart, Sears and Toys R Us are also offering big sales now, that you wouldn't normally see until Black Friday, in hopes of attracting more shoppers early and controlling some of the crowds.
For example:
Wal-mart will slash prices up to 60% Saturday, for toys like the EZ Bake Oven, Disney Princess Scooter, and Nerf N-Strike Vulcan. They are offering a 26" Vizio LCD HDTV for $248 and customers who by video games like Band Hero and DJ hero will get a $40 gift card.
Sears launched a campaign called "Black Friday Now", offering doorbuster deals every Saturday until Christmas. Stores will open at 7am Saturday with deals running until noon. One of the hot items this weekend: an LG 50" plasma HDTV for $879.00. That's 320 dollars off.
Toys R Us has another "Super Sale" from 3 pm until midnight Friday and Saturday 7am -1pm. The company is offering deep discounts including 50% off an MP3 video player and digital cameras.
Starting Sunday, Kohl's will let customers create shopping lists online to help them locate Black Friday specials before they head into stores. You can print out pictures and prices of items that will be on sale, helping you stay within budget. Stores open on Black Friday at 4am.
Edinburgh Premium Outlets will open at Midnight after Thanksgiving. Some stores will even open at 10pm on that Thursday. Big discounts will be tacked on to the already 25-65% savings.
And, according to Truecar.com Black Friday is the best day of the year to buy a car with the average discount expected to be 7.5 percent.
