Thursday marked the fifth anniversary of the brawl at the Palace at Auburn Hills. Now, according to a key instigator in that rumble between Detroit fans and some Pacer Players, ex-Indiana Pacer Ron Artest wants to bury the hatchet.
John Green is the Detroit fan who threw a drink cup at Artest from the stands, sparking the fighting near the end of a tense game.
Green told ESPN that Artest called him recently and asked if there's something the two of them can do to make things better.
"He tried to come up with something maybe we could do to possibly give back to the community and let people know we are sorry," Green said.
Green says they're still working on that idea. He also cleared up what was in that cup that hit Artest in the chest.
"I rememeber throwing the cup, actually a cup of diet coke. It wasn't a beer. I had been drinking. I've had issues with alcohol in my past," Green said.
Artest is with the Lakers now. Green is banned from NBA games for life.
