Indianapolis - A southwest side man suffered serious injuries after two men forced their way in, attacked him and ransacked his home.
It happened around 8:30 pm Wednesday night on South Belleview Place. James Dotts, 63, was shot, but managed to call for help.
"He answered the door. They shot him on the front porch and took him inside and tied him up and went through my Dad and Mom's belongings," said Summer Dotts, his daughter.
The bullet grazed Dotts' head, leaving him severely injured. Still, he managed to call for help.
OPERATOR: "911."
CALLER: "I've been shot. I have been shot. Somebody came in here and shot me. I've been shot. I've been shot. Please come to my home."
OPERATOR: "What is your phone number?"
CALLER: "Hurry, please, they are coming back."

Summer Dotts says her father lost a lot of blood. She's angry about what the suspects did after the shooting.
"I believe he said they put a sock in his mouth and put him back on his bed and covered him with a sheet while they ransacked," she said.
Summer Dotts says after ransacking his home, the suspects took the keys to his house and to his truck, then ran to the street to their getaway car. Metro police are on the look out for a 90s model maroon-colored Ford Taurus.
James Dotts' family changed the locks on the doors. But even with a safe neighborhood sign posted nearby, they're far from feeling safe.
"You are not safe opening your door anymore," said Summer Dotts, who is praying for her father's recovery and also that the suspects are caught before they hurt someone else's father.
"Just hope that God can find a place in their heart," she added.
