3 Henry County corrections employees arrested

Updated:

New Castle - State police have arrested two New Castle police officers and the director of the Henry County Community Corrections program on charges including ghost employment and official misconduct.

Police Lt. Jim Heffernan and Patrolman Matthew Patterson have been suspended without pay as a result of their arrests. Police Chief James Nicholson says the allegations against Heffernan and Patterson stem from their work at the corrections program and not from their work as police officers.

Also charged is Henry County Community Corrections Director Doug Sheets.

All three men surrendered at the Henry County jail on Wednesday afternoon and were released after posting $1,000 bonds.

The Henry County commissioners asked state police to investigate the corrections program.
