Indianapolis - Voters in seven school districts across Indiana will decide in referendums Tuesday whether to allow proposed building projects or property taxes higher than allowed under new statewide caps.
Special elections also are being held in Indianapolis on permitting up to $703 million in public bonds for construction of a new Wishard Memorial Hospital and in northern Indiana on creating a regional transportation district.
Only two of the four counties that would be in the district are holding the referendum since officials in Lake and LaPorte counties didn't approve election funding. State law allows formation of the district if voters in Porter and St. Joseph counties approve it.
Three Marion County school districts are having referendum votes, along with the Batesville, Southern Wells, Southwest Dubois and Tell City districts.
Polls are open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Tuesday. Get voting info here, including a polling place locator.
