Center for Inquiry School celebrates Blue Ribbon honors

Updated:
Indianapolis - A local school got a big honor Monday.

The Center for Inquiry on North New Jersey Street downtown is the recipient of the 2009 National Blue Ribbon Award. CFI was one of seven Indiana schools to be recognized by the US Department of Education.

More than 400 students, teachers and parents gathered in the gym Monday morning to celebrate the honor.

"Because of the great job you teachers have done, it has allowed you to achieve national ranking, it has allowed you to be known throughout the country," said Michael Brown, IPS School Board president.

School 2 is the only Central Indiana school to receive the National Blue Ribbon award.
