Greenwood - The family of a Greenwood boy who went missing on a hike in Switzerland is praying for a miracle.
Noah Kriese is a Center Grove Middle School Central honor student. His family released a statement saying the 12-year-old disappeared Friday while on a hike at Truemmelbach Falls, about 30 miles southeast of the Swiss capital, Bern.
A prayer vigil was held for Noah Monday evening and another vigil is set for Tuesday.
Noah's older sister posted Noah's picture on Facebook, asking people to start a prayer chain for his safe return.
The family says Noah was visiting the area with his mother and her family. A statement read by a family friend also says the boy's father was is in the area of the waterfall helping with search efforts.
The statement says the family has no confirmation of Noah's whereabouts but is hoping for the best.
Police continue their search for the boy. They say other hikers claimed to have seen a person in the rapids around the time of the disappearance.
A shoe that could belong to Noah was found at edge of gorge where he was hiking. From now on, police will do spot checks at key points in the gorge. They are asking any tourist who took pictures or video to come forward to provide clues in the boy's disappearance.
Meantime, Noah's sister wrote on her Facebook page that "miracles can happen" and implored friends to pray for the family.
Noah plays soccer with the Hoosier FC soccer team on the south side. The team is playing a game at Mooresville Christian Academy Monday night, and some parents of Noah's teammates say a vigil will be held at the game. Team members will sign a giant picture of Noah in support of the family.
