The annual INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL brought to you by AAA Hoosier Motor Club is central Indiana’s largest and oldest pan-ethnic celebration! Hosted by the NATIONALITIES COUNCIL OF INDIANA, the 2010 INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL brought to you by AAA Hoosier Motor Club showcases Indiana’s ethnic diversity, celebrates our unique ethnic traditions, and encourages cultural exchange. Visit the 2010 Festival, featuring exhibits from the 50 + ethnic groups represented in Central Indiana as they gather to share their rich cultural histories and traditions. Highlights of the festival include authentic foods from 20+ ethnic vendors; continuous ethnic music and dance by local and national performing groups; Culture Booths hosted by volunteers in traditional dress where you can connect with your own ethnic heritage; artisans demonstrating unique cultural crafts; a Naturalization Ceremony and an International Marketplace offering gifts from around the world. November 18 &19, 2010 allow students to learn about diversity and explore their own ethnic roots. Students travel the festival using Student Passports provided by the Nationalities Council and Eli Lilly Foundation.

  • Weather Around the World

  • Friday, November 19th, Kids 12 and under get in FREE from 5pm]9pm for Friday Family Fun Night. Aside from all the features the festival already has to offer, Friday night kids can enjoy the Family Fun Zone with Ethnic Arts & Crafts tables, meet Dora the Explorer, face painting, a bounce house and more! Also, special guest Because We're Gypsies will be playing Eastern European Gypsy music and teaching ethnic dance.

  • Using chalk as a medium,  madonnari (street painters)  will transform the  concrete floors of the Indiana State Fairgrounds West Pavilion into a color-splashed gallery for the International Festival's 20,000+ visitors.   Festival-goers and students will have a chance to try their hand at this ancient art-form all days of the festival.

  • Icho Daiko, a Cleveland based Taiko Drummer group will perform. Icho Daiko is currently comprised of 9 members of the Cleveland, Akron, and Oberlin communities. The group builds its own drums. Their mission is to strengthen Asian American communities by instilling pride and cultural awareness, and to build bridges between Asian Americans and other groups through the dynamic cultural expression of Taiko.

  • The Nationalities Council with the Geography Educators' Network of Indiana presents the National Geographic Society's Giant Travelling Map of Asia. Measuring 26'x33' and weighing 102 lbs., this map of Asia is the world's largest map of the continent. Students use this map as a tool to explore the continent in a variety of unique ways! The giant map is designed as a game board to introduce students to the power of maps and the geography of Asia.

  • Meet the star of the hit Nickelodeon Jr. Series, Dora The Explorer, on on Friday night, Saturday & Sunday! Dora the Explorer introduces kids to Spanish words, encourages movement, and gives viewers the skills and the confidence needed to overcome challenges.

  • Chicks on Sticks explores the ancient and universal art of stilt walking, bringing color and celebration to our urban environment.

  • JJ Kent is a beloved NAMMY Award]winning Native American recording artist and a gifted cultural speaker and educator in schools and at University campuses across America. JJ won "Flutist of the Year" at the 2009 NAMMY Awards in Niagara Falls, New York. He is presently in the running for a Grammy award.

  • International Beer & Wine Tasting is brought to you by Kahn's Fine Wines & Spirits. Taste your way around the world as Kahn's pairs international beers and wines with the authentic cuisines from over 20 ethnic food vendors at the International Festival.
