13 investigates - Car Break In - 13 WTHR Indianapolis



The following databases include car break-ins reported to several Central Indiana police agencies. These cases include events such as items stolen from a vehicle when a door was left unlocked, thieves breaking through windows to steal items or even personal property removed from a vehicle’s trunk. The data does not include actual vehicle theft or car accessories removed from a vehicle (ie: rims)

The data was obtained by 13 Investigates through public records requests to the police agencies. You can search the data by city, year and address.

In Indianapolis, in 2011 alone – more than 6,200 people reported they were victims of a car break-in. And so far in 2012 – 350 people report having something stolen from their vehicle. Click to read the story from 13 Investigates
