Zionsville officer helps deliver baby
A Zionsville police officer had no idea he would spend his Labor Day delivering a baby!
Officer Adam Harper responded to a medical call Monday. He was the first to arrive at the Zionsville home and found a woman already in labor. The baby's head was visible and turning purple, so Harper jumped into action.
"As luck would have it, this was my first day back from maternity leave, if you will. My wife had a child five days sooner, five or six days before that, and so I was kind of in the baby mode, the maternity mode, the whole hospital mode," he said.
Paramedics eventually arrived and took mom and baby to IU Health North Hospital. Both are doing well.
