WTHR honored with more than 30 regional Emmy® Award nominations

INDIANAPOLIS, April 26 — WTHR, Channel 13 announced today that the station earned 34 Emmy® nominations in 30 categories from the Lower Great Lakes Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, (NATAS). WTHR received nominations in all key news categories including best newscast, breaking news, spot news, investigative reporting, journalistic enterprise, and overall station excellence.

13 Eyewitness News was nominated for best evening newscast, best morning/daytime newscast and best weekend newscast. WTHR's coverage of the South Side explosion earned a nomination in the breaking news category, and its investigation into the IRS earned a nomination in the category of Investigative series.

With 34 nominations, WTHR easily outdistanced other local stations. WISH garnered 22 nominations followed by WXIN with 19, WRTV earned 16 and WFYI tallied 15.

The Lower Great Lakes Chapter encompasses the states of Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania. The 44th annual Lower Great Lakes Chapter Emmy® Awards ceremony will be held June 1, 2013 in Cleveland, Ohio.
