Women rescued from creek in Brown County
Two women were rescued from a rain-swollen creek in Brown County Monday evening.
Brown County dispatchers said the women were driving a tank truck delivering water across a metal grate bridge as Hamilton Creek was rising over Mt. Nebo Road near SR 135. The water obscured the one-lane road, and the women drove off and became stuck in ankle-deep water.
Police and conservation officers and volunteer firefighters from Van Buren rescued the women around 9:30 p.m., according to the truck's owner, who spoke with Eyewitness News at the scene.
Parts of southern Indiana were under a flood warning due to heavy rains.
