A woman was wounded in an apparent attempted murder-suicide Monday evening.

Officers responded to an apartment on Westhaven Circle in Zionsville around 8:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound and a woman who was conscious, but who had also been shot.

The woman was taken to St. Vincent Hospital, where she was interviewed by police about what happened.

Whitestown Police Chief Dennis Anderson identified the man as Lloyd "Kenty" Kruckberry, 53. Kruckberry was in a relationship with the woman.

According to police, the woman told Kruckberry that she wanted to end the relationship and he became physically violent. When she tried to leave the apartment, he got his gun and shot her through the shoulder.

Police found Kruckberry outside of the apartment building after he fatally shot himself.
