WNAP raft race reunion

It has been 40 years since the first WNAP raft race when hundreds of rafts set sail in the White River to celebrate local DJs and artists.

The event ran for nine years before it got too big and had to be called off.

Sunday, they recreated history at the White River Yacht Club, Broad Ripple Park and the stretch of the White River in between.

"All the people who live along the river had parties going on, and bands at their house and that sort of thing," recalled Cris Connor, a former WNAP host. "It became quite the cultural thing. It was something everybody looked forward to every year."

Donations collected from the Raft Race will go to the "Fathers and Families Center," which helps young, low-income fathers with the challenges of parenthood.
