Winter storm warning in effect until noon on Monday


A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Central Indiana from 8:00 am Sunday through noon on Monday.

Snow will develop around 4:00 am Sunday morning across the western part of Indiana and move into central Indiana by 8:00 am. Snow will become heavy Sunday afternoon through Sunday night. A rain snow mix is likely from Sullivan to  Bloomington to Columbus Sunday afternoon before changing to all snow. Snow will continue through Monday.

Expect a 3-6" snow accumulation from Sullivan to Bloomington to Columbus and all areas south. Snow accumulations of 6-9" are expected in Indianapolis and across the rest of central Indiana.

Indy Snow Force will activate at full force (90 trucks) beginning 11 p.m. Saturday and extending through Monday, as needed. All city salt barns and fleet service sites will be open for the duration of the weather event.

The weekend starts off sunny, with a high of 42 for Friday and 46 for Saturday. But Gulf moisture will bring some snow starting early Sunday morning.

Temperatures will remain in the thirties and forties through next week.
