A Johnson County town is launching a new plan to draw more business to the area.

The Daily Journal reports that Whiteland leaders want to build up the area near I-65 by expanding its TIF district.

Right now, the only development that exists there are two gas stations and some restaurants. But town officials are now looking to make drastic changes to fuel the growth of that area.

They're hoping that drivers getting off the interstate exit will soon see everything from small factories and offices to shops and restaurants. The plans also include a new multi-level town center.
