An American bulldog is recovering from a shooting, and police in Westfield want to find out who injured the animal.

On Jan. 30, Westfield Police were called to the 16700 block of Eagletown Road to investigate a stray dog. The caller noted that the dog was not aggressive and appeared to be in poor shape.

The officer arrived to find the dog wrapped in a blanket, without a collar or micro chip. Police took the animal to the Hamilton County Humane Society per guidelines, and the Humane Society arranged treatment for the dog.

They determined that the dog had been shot twice with a small caliber handgun. Both of the bullets were removed and the dog is expected to make a full recovery.

Anyone with information on the dog's owner or any information regarding the crime is asked to call the Westfield Police at 317-804-3200.
