Weidner leads Indiana Wesleyan to NAIA championship
Indiana Wesleyan's men's basketball made history Tuesday night, capturing the first national championship in program history.
The Wildcats defeated Midland (Neb.) 78-68 to win the title.
Danville H.S. grad Jordan Weidner led all scorers with 21 points for IWU. Brothers RJ and Lane Mahurin, of Rockville, added 19 and 11 points respectively for the Wildcats.
Whitko H.S. grad Zac Vandewater posted a double-double, tallying 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats, who were making their first appearance in the NAIA Division II Final Four.
Indiana Wesleyan finished the season with a 31-6 record, the most wins in school history. They won every game of the tournament by double digits, the first time that has happened in tournament history.
