SHANGHAI, China (WTHR) - Mud runs are an international phenomenon, and in China Saturday, more than four-thousand people dared to challenge a mud obstacle course.

Shanghai's most adventurous gathered for a dirty workout at the city's annual Mud Run.

The race involved navigating 26 obstacles, including inflatables, ropes and a chilly iced mud bath.

The men's group winner completed the race in a messy 39 minutes, 28 seconds.

The women's group winner took nearly 54 minutes to complete the grueling course.

But the prize money was good - close to $12-hundred (USD) for each winner.

Shanghai is the third race of a Mud Run series in China.
