Walmart gets approval for Greenwood superstore plans
Walmart got approval Monday night on a plan for a Greenwood superstore that some neighbors say they don't want to see built.
The new store will go up on 15 acres of land near SR 135 and Smith Valley Road. But the project includes 100 fewer parking spaces than typically required.
Greenwood's planning and zoning board approved the store's request for a waiver. Some neighbors say they're still concerned about the extra traffic the store will bring.
"The traffic is already really bad near our neighborhood, so that's our biggest concern is traffic and drainage. We also want to make sure there is enough buffer between us and them," said Greenwood resident Terry McConahay
Construction on the new Walmart could start as early as this spring.
